Been watching a lot of TV these past couple of "free" days.
Something funny came up. The key conflict in the plot came as a result of the girl asking for the guy for a present as "proof" that he once loved her that much, because she knew that they would not be "forever", but just wanted something to "prove" that they once were.
I just thought it was funny how people hold on to these things.
"Proof" is only needed if there is no trust. if the original thing it was "proving" were subject to be reviewed and judged.
Funny how it's usually women that need the proof.
Are we so insecure that we always need something more tangible to hold on to?
Are we so forgetful that we need something more than love itself to remind us?
Are we so desperate that we need to go thru the rest of our mundane lives grasping onto something that "proves" that once upon a time, we too, were desirable, and worthy of such an "earth-shattering" kind of love?
Funny how easily people forget.
Funny how fast things change.
I think that's why people actually need proof.
because too often, it is gone before we even realize what we had had in the first place.
we are left wondering, whether something so amazing was just a fragment of our imaginations, or did our dreams actually come true? ... but if so... how were we so stupid to let it slip between our fingers and disappear into nothingness?
... and that's why we search for "proof". to prove that we are sane, to prove that yes, once upon a time, it did happen.
... i don't anymore. LOL. i think my memory has deteriorated past the point of no return. even if i had had proof, i would've forgotten it already. lol. and actually. if i needed proof, then that means u're no longer here. why would i need proof of something that no longer is? and if u were here, and will be here to stay... then ... proof is redundant. no?
让过去的都过去吧。
每天都是新的一天。
我们从新开始,好么?
